Rain Not Train
Vulpine
Rebecca J Kaye

The shoe drying kit was the brain child of Vulpine and The Newspaper Club.

Tired of buying newspapers just to dry their shoes, Vulpine and The Newspaper Club decided to collaborate on 'Shoespaper'.

They collaborated with a number of illustrators and designers to create the shoe drying kit and I feel very priviliged to be alongside the likes of a design by Anthony Burill and article by Robert Millar.

The end result is a very nicely designed newspaper that you're more likely to want to keep than use to dry shoes.

Vulpine are currently giving away copies with all online purchases. Visit www.vulpine.cc for more information.

If you can't get hold of a physical copy, there are also a couple of nice write ups and more images on Creative Review and It's Nice That.

Not For Rental
Little White Lies
Rebecca J Kaye

Not For Rental was a charity exhibition hosted by Little White Lies and devised by Timba Smits and 'Flash' Gordon Shaw.

The exhibition was held in order to raise money for two charities; Art Against Knives and MacMillan Cancer.

The exhibition itself was built around a love of film and the pair involved over 300 designers and illustrators to create film inspired works that would wrap around a VHS box.

The exhibition reflected the long lost video store and was ran over the course of a week, culminating in 'sale day'.

On sale day, each video was sold for £50 and all proceeds were then split between the two charities. There are some more images of the actual exhibition on my blog.

I created a trilogy series for the exhibition (shown to the left). The films I chose (from left to right) were 'Into the Wild', 'The Diving Bell and the Butterfly' and 'Man on Wire'. Well worth a watch if you haven't already seen them.

To find out more about the very touching story behind the exhibition and the reason for the two very worthy causes, head over to the interview on HUCK.

Mairie de Paris
ARTCRANK
Rebecca J Kaye

Thousands of hire bicycles have recently been installed around the city of Paris. This bicycle hire scheme is called 'Velib' and is much like the Barclay Bike hire scheme in London. To celebrate this scheme, the Mayor of Paris commisioned 9 artists, hand picked by ARTCRANK. Three from each of the USA, UK and France. I was incredibly honoured to be one of the three artists representing the UK.

Each artist was invited to create a poster to celebrate the joy of cycling through Paris. My poster is entitled 'Tour de Paris' and is on display in the Grande Palais, Paris until 21 July 21 2013. After this it will be displayed in the Cite de la Mode until October 2013.

One thing I know is a collection of interviews from over 40 top creative leaders in the South West of England.

Fiasco Design designed and created the book and I was one of 36 selected illustrators involved in this project. The result is a fantastic book packed full of invaluable advice.

The first edition sold out within the first few days of being released.

Wave and Freedom
Howies
Rebecca J Kaye

I remember first coming across Howies back in 2003 (by which time they were already 8 years old) and being very excited by a company that was not only British but Welsh, creating clothes with sport and the environment at it's core.

Being Welsh and heavily into the outdoors, this was pretty much ideal company. Add the inspiring graphics and photography, and the catalogues that were more like books and you pretty much have my ideal company. You can imagine my excitement when I was contacted by them to produce some illustrations for their t-shirts. I hope there will be more to come.

You can purchase the mens and womens t-shirts over on the Howies website.

Foto Velodrome

Foto velo drome is a photography exhibition by Chris Keller-Jackson and features UK and international track riders. Chris' photographic style emphasis the drama and excitement in track racing and I wanted to reflect this in the poster.

The poster uses a minimalist style to illustrate the track as a stage to play on the theatrical style of photography. The steep angles, which are at the same angles as Manchesters steepest point, are also designed to reinforce this idea.

The event is being held at Manchester Velodrome throughout 2013.

The Ride Journal is a brilliant magazine. It's full of stories told by people who love two wheels and illustrated with photography and a variety of illustrations. My illustration is featured in the current issue (VII) and is available to purchase here.

There's also a good article about the journal on a lovely blog called It's nice that.

Whitespace agency were involved in the entire re-brand of Melville's fruit beer. Melville's were looking for a new image and decided to take the illustration route to achieve this.

I was lucky enough to be involved in a few aspects of this process including illustrations for the website, posters and an animation showing the 'Wonderful World of Melville's'. You can see the website and watch the video on Melville's website by clicking here.

Coven Magazine

Rebecca J Kaye

I love design and the outdoors and have always been a big fan of HUCK magazine, which effortlessly combines great design and inspiring people doing amazing things. Then Coven came along.

Coven magazine again brings together art and adventure but with a twist. All the people doing amazing things are women. So when I was given the opportunity of illustrating the front cover, I jumped at the chance. Whilst the magazine is about women, it's not your typical women's magazine and the cover needed to reflect this. Click here to visit the Coven website where you can download the latest edition for free.

Bank of Dave
Channel 4
Whitespace
Rebecca J Kaye

Bank of Dave was a documentary produced by Channel 4. It followed the story of Dave, a self-made millionaire, who was attempting to set up his own bank during the banking crisis.

Whitespace had been brought in to create an interactive infographic to explain this. With a background in information graphics, I was really excited to be involved in this project and was commissioned to illustrate Dave's story. We were really pleased with the end result and it received some great feedback. You can find out more about Dave's story and see the infographic for yourself on the channel 4 website.

Inspiring Enterprise

Inspiring Enterprise is a new service from RBS, which required a seperate identity from their mainstream banking. I was involved in illustrating a variety of icons, which would make up the overall identity as well being used as sign posting symbols across the website. I also created a variety of illustrations to be used within a bespoke animation detailing the aims and benefits of the RBS Inspring Enterprise programme. For more information and to see the illustrations in work click here.
